An aggrieved farmer, went to court in Punjab, demanding justice in the case of his land being taken over by the Railways, without giving adequate compensation. After many hearings, the court ruled that the farmer should get a train (approx. Rs. 1 crore) as compensation from the Railways.
Directing Railway Board to this effect, the court said that the farmer should be given the Shatabdi Express as compensation. Even the station master’s room in Ludiana station should be given to him, it ruled. The farmer can auction the train, the court said.
